Hoping to run 33s - 2.5 or 4 inch lift?

I've got the urge to do some upgrades, and I'm thinking a lift. I'm currently running a 2 inch budget boost (including longer shocks) with 31s and JKS quicker disconnects. I plan on going to 33's when my current tires wear out. I'm going to keep the stock axles, and only do moderate wheeling (on rocks) 2 or 3 times a year.

So, my question is, should I buy new 2.5" springs and a 1" body lift, or a suck it up and buy a full 4" kit?

As far as I can tell, the 4" kit will cost me around $1200, while I'll spend $400 on new springs (and longer brake lines).

Actually, you can get complete 4" lifts (and by complete I mean springs, non-flex joint, non adjustable lower control arms, transfer case drop, sway bar end links, and shocks) from Rough Country and Skyjacker for around $500.

That being said, you should be able to fit 33's with 2.5" springs and a 1" body lift like you said, and that route would probably be a lot less labor intensive.

If you have the funds do the 4" lift now.If not when the 33's start to wear out you will be looking for 35's or larger.May as well do the lift 2 times instead of 3.

I ended up ordering some 2.5" springs from Rough Country. Dustin from RC is one of the venders here ( http://www.jeepz.com/forum/4x4-vendors/27627-rough-country-here.html ) and he's giving 10% off, so you can't really beat the price. I just don't have the cash to go big now.

I'm probably going to give up on the 33s for now, and go with 32s when the time comes for new tires. I just don't think that I'll be able to clear 33s the way I want without a real investment.

you should be fine with just a 2.5" lift and 33's. foget the BL. If you need a bit more height, just re-use you spacers (I doubt you will need it though) only issue is, 2.5" is kinda the milit for the factory control arms. it might be prudent to search from some adjustable LCA and then uppers so you can dial in your suspension properly. While the fixed LCA are fine, I prefer the adjustability.

I've heard of adjustable control arms, but to be honest, I'm not really sure what needs to be adjusted (concerning the LCA) when you raise a Jeep. I'm assuming that the longer spring would cause the LCA to pull the axle back - would I be looking to lengthen the lower control arms (that would move the wheel forward right)?
