sorry just found the one from yesterday..

i have gone back and forth on this about a million times. i got this 05 tj and had to start changing stuff about one week later. It came with a 4cyl a 6 speed man and a 4"sus w/34's and like some god awfull 1:1 gears. yes i know thats not right but i don't know what they were, just stupid. anyway now we're cooking with gas on 4.88s. so now there spinnin right i want em to all 4 do it at the same time. i am really really good at breaking stuff, hopein to avoid that. i was told i should put the ez locker in the front and the super 30 kit on the back w/ a friction locker that i can't remember. i really like the idea of air but thats not going to happen. the ox cable system is appealing to me but thats just an ad i look at all the time. this will be the last thing to add to this jeep. for the next one will be scary. just let me know what works well for you. i dabble n a little of all three mud rocks and stupid

A kit for the rear axle would be the super35.

A selectable such as the Ox Locker is good for the rear, cost prohibitive for many, so go for it if you have the scratch. That axle should hold up just fine with a Super35 and an Ox locker.

If you're going to put a lunchbox locker in the front (a locker that replaces the stock spider gears) then check out the Aussie Locker.

Or better yet just "weld up" the rear end, you'll save hundreds =]. I would do that but my luck i would snap my little 35's

p.s. don't do that to the front

A locker in the front of a 30 and the wheels turned to one side and some gas will brake the u-joints. Don't do a Lincoin locker (welded side gears)
This is the harshest on the street. Unlike a lockright.

This is not necessarily so... Granted, when the wheel is turned you run the highest risk of breaking U-Joints, but a selectable locker you can turn off for street driving, and an automatic locker would unlock for turns (it only locks up under load, and when street driving, the Jeep is ussually 2wd anyway). If you have a YJ, you can even do a lincoln locker and use the 3 piece axle to disconnect the two sides without issues; Bounty runs/ran his like this, he can tell you more details...

Like mentioned, gassing it when the wheels are turned to full lock is when you're most likely to bust an axle ujoint. But that's by no reason enough to not lock the front axle. Just keep that risk in mind and drive accordingly.

Don't discount lincoln lockers and spools, I've ran both and currently run spools in both axles. AND it's a daily driver. I just don't like the constant locking/unlocking experienced with auto lockers, I like it to be uber-predictable.

yea i think i'm going to do the rear first and see how that works. right now i drive it everyday to work. looks like ox is going to be the one for me i'd rather spend the money on it now instead of wondering what if later. still 4 months till i get home so keep sending advice. instead of watching tv here i just read this forums all night
