New manual clutch linkage: what is this ball and spring for?

I just bought and installed a new manual clutch linkage on my jeep. After getting everything in i had a metal ball and small spring left over...Anyone know what these are for?

I just replaced the clutch in my 79 cj7. Sounds like what you have is the clutch fork pivot ball and the spring for the clutch fork which attaches inside the bell housing. When I took mine apart I was missing the ball and three out of four of the bolts that hold the transmission to the bell housing were strip out so bad that I was able to just pull two of them out!
