The engine light is on and the CPU is displaying this code “PO485 Cooling fan power/Ground Circuit”

Is this the AC blower fan Circuit??
If not what sensor is it, and how to fix??

Thanks You’ll!!!

Do’s anybody have a clue?????????
Or even the slightest inclination???

Or is it because this is my first post????

I don't know.

I googled, "PO485 Cooling fan power/Ground Circuit" and got two responses.

1 was your question sending me back to JEEPZ forums and your questions, and the other referred to a camrymanual site that had exceeded it's bandwidth (error 509).

Sorry!

You didn't tell us what Jeep you have (style/year/engine/transmission) so it makes it harder to help. I'm assuming you have an electric fan on your radiator (the fan refered to by the code). I would check all the wiring to the fan........look for bare/broken wires. Are there any symptoms, other than the CEL??? Overheating, missing, not starting??? More information = more help.

Thanks for the replies!!!!! It is my wife’s Jeep 2003 Wrangler Sahara, 4.0L with 5 speed manual.

The fan is belt driven, I went to the dealer and we looked at the cooling system replacement parts, and nowhere did it show any type of sensor, the temperature is controlled by the engine thermostat.

The jeep runs great no gas mileage loss, no misfire, no overheating, no real evidence of any malfunction occurring.

I went and replaced the AC/Heater fan blower resistor, it had lost the first two fan speeds (low & med low).

I had washed the engine bay about two weeks ago, and maybe suspected the grounds on the firewall, I found three, I removed the first grounding screw, and found it was clean, the second one (Drivers side) had rust built up on it, as well as the hood ground nut, I dressed the surfaces and applied, dialectic grease on the firewall and ground strap including the bolts.

With the engine disconnected it reset the code, the only bad deal of it all was that I broke the negative battery post, or rather crack the battery case, NOW I have to replace the battery, it is ok because the battery is 5 years old, so!!!!!!

Thanks again for the replies, for a minute I was lost and was drowning; with no help in site, the jeep has not activated the engine light so we will see if what I did fixed the problem.

You’ll have a good one. Art.
