RE: jeep story

I came across a pair of complete drum to drum axles out of a 1964 scout with 4.27 gears. $100. What do ya think? I forgot all the axel info on scouts; are these dana 44's, and how will they fit on a cj7 with widetrac axels? Also, how much would i be looking at to install discs in the front. Of course, I would throw a locker in the rear...maybe an electrac?

Check the tube diameter, older scouts use small thin wall tubes, like to bend. Plus the drums for those are $120 + each. I found out the hard way, now i got rear disc. lol. plus check the front, it might be a d30. But for a 100 bucks dont seem to bad.................

RE: oil pressure

I think the front will be a closed knuckle D27 with tiny drum brakes. The rear is a D44 I think, but it should have 19 spline flanged axles and an off set differential to match the D18 Tcase that that would have accompanied it, also tiny brakes.

I don't know about width, but they can't be any wider than the narrowtrack CJ axles.
