T5 Transmission Question

I blew out my Dana 300 last week and pulled it to rebuild it. After pulling the transfer case I found a trickle of transmission fluid leaking out from around the T5's output shaft. Maybe this was a mistake, I'm still not decided, but in order to verify that my transmission wasn't grinding too (the Dana 300 was grinding bad when driving), I put the Jeep in gear and ran the engine. Transmission fluid went everwhere from the output shaft. So my question is, should transmission fluid be leaking out the rear of the transmission?

Another humor post

The dana 300 input shaft is what seals up the back of the transmission, or sort of anyway...with no t-case, there is nothing holding it in. I just hope you didn't run it too long with the t-case out.
