This is my first project as a Jeeper with my 79CJ5. I am ready to dive but I am not sure what the best order to approach the work is. The list is, Body work (some panel welding, duraglass everywhere else), paint job, shocks, tires, 1" greasable shacks, carb rebuild or replacement, assorted general engine maint. (gaskets, hoses) new rear body mount fab (rusted out) and bushings. I could use some veteran knowledge. [addsig]

Someone may disagree with me, but this the order I'd start and then the reasons.

Carb, Engine, Shackles, Shocks, Bodymount, Bodywork, Paint, Tires

Card and Engine - so you can at the least start it, if not drive it. So the engine stays happy will finishing the rest of the project.

Shackles and Shocks - done before the bodywork and paint to eliminate any damage that could have been caused to the body work.

Bodymount and Bodywork - see above

Paint - see above

Tires - So no paint or any other debris get on your new tires[addsig]

I would agree. Do the major mechanical work first so it will be dependable, and save the cosmetics for last.
