1976 CJ 7 renegade levi

I am going to look at this jeep for purchase later this week. I was wondering if anyone had some good tips on what trouble spots to look for that are common in CJ's. It has a 304 V8 with a 3-speed auto and amc 20 rear with Quadratrac 4 wheel drive. Is this a good setup or not? The guy wants $2800 for it.

I would say besides the obvious like transmission, and engine look at body mounts and see how bad they are around the rear tire where the cancer starts. I've seen them almost rotted out all the way through the floor. See what degree of body rot you are looking at and your ability to do the repairs or know someone who does. If you are not ready to spend the cash on replacement panels of even a new tub, you might want to reconsider a CJ, you can watch them rust. Also, check the frame for cracks and hardcore rot.[addsig]
