Help Removing the Sending unit 85 Jeep Cj7

Help Identifying Jeep Cj7 Transmission and T-case

Hi, I have an access door in my fibreglass tub on my 85 Jeep Cj7. I can see the sending unit top but I cannot remove it. Looks to have a large plastic nut that is screwed into the tank hole. I cannot budge the nut. Can someone give me some advice on how to remove this? I need to replace the sending unit. Also, my tank is the plastic type.

It might be a lot easier if you take the wholetank off the jeep. I just changed mine a few weeks ago.
