i have a '01TJ 4.0 auto with 3.07 or it's 3.08? any way, my tires are 30x9.50.
I will like to put 33x12.5 some time, but the gear is too long now, with 33" i'm going to be like a turtle. i'm thinking 4.11, do I need more than 4.11?
oh, i'm average 15mpg now, and i will like to keep it up there, and I can do more than 80mph

or more if I'm brave.

I have 33's and the I6. I just went to 4.11 and it is fine. before I did the gear swap I could not go ever 50 mph. I have also swapped out the cat for a high flow and went with a Gibson Cat back system. This has boosted the power as well. MPG is about 16-18, and I do not have he guts to take her over 75, but could. Hope this helps

Thia is coppied from a post that was sent to me.....

whatever you do, DO NOT put 4.88's in there. go with the 4.56's at most, you would propably be just fine with 4.11's. i have seen a TJ with the 35 rear eat 4 sets of 4.88's up that had the 6 cyl. the problem is that when you go to a gear that low, the pinion for the D35 becomes very small, and weakens by alot, so don't go lower that 4.11's if you can help it.

I read in the new issue of Four Wheeler magazine (big write up on gears), that an automatic probably shouldn't have as low a gearing as a manual. I'll get my issue when I go home and see if I can come up with more info.

I have a 97 I6 with 33s. It looks like I will probably go to 4.11 gear ratio. So, tell me the bad news... how much will it cost me?
