still need help on axles

I'm in the process of doing a brake job all the way around and also redoing my axle seals. Is is neccessary to pull the pinion shaft out of the gears to get the axle out. I went to auto zone and got a hub puller but it was too small. I am hoping I am on the right track here. I have the amc 20 rear end. Will I need any special tools or is this fairly doable?

You should't need to pull the pinion, merely pull the yoke off the pinion to replace the pinion seal.

What do you think you need the hub puller for?

You should install 1-piece axleshafts while you're going through so much trouble over that axle, smart upgrade to a weak link.

no need for a hub puller... the hub is attached to the axle....
