Welding

RE: wheel spacers

Any welders out there?? Answer me this. Can you weld on a engine block? What does it taketo do ? Broke a ear off on my 4.0 and need to try to fix..(or just v-8 it)

RE: V8 swap

I wouldn't weld anywhere adjacent to a water/oil passage or a cylinder, but you CAN weld to one. Does the broken "ear" keep it from being useable? If so......try it, if it's already junk.....what have you lost?
You need some rods made for cast iron, and preheating with the torch might help.

97 6 cyl TJ stalls can anyone help?

I'd say go for it, if it's not too close to any water, oil, etc. passage ways like junkpile said.

Do you happen to have a picture of the area you'd like to weld this piece to?

It is the bottom ear on a 4.0L block that the transmission bolts to...what to weld with is the 1,000,000, question

RE: Chat room Sunday at 9:00 est

By the way, (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I think it would be a nickle rod that you should weld it with.

And yes, pre and post heat the area.

RE: another option for Bchcky

Nickle, yes for cast material, home depot has it for OK $$

RE: jeep return?????

Just be careful with localized preheating on an engine block. Your not gonna get a decent weld without doing it, but be reasonable with the heat and do it slow.
