RE: Wax stains on plastic parts

Okay, check engine light is on. Jeep is running fine. Code check gives me

P0442 which on the net is listed as a P0442 (M) Evap Leak Monitor Medium Leak Detected A small leak has been detected in the evaporative system.

I also read a ton of stuff from fuel to water problems to gas cap.

What is your opionion or experience? Please advise. Thanks

Mine was my gas cap (on the XJ). I thought the guy at autozone was nuts, but sho 'nough when I bought a new one it went out a tank of gas or so later. There was a warning on my factory gas cap that a loose cap would result in the check engine light being lit.

May not be your problem but it's cheap enough to replace if you want to try it. I'd bet that's what it is. A guy in my Jeep club had the same thing happen on his TJ.

That's generally a loose gas cap code. Tighten it at least 3-clicks and have the code reset. It should be fine.

Thanks guys. I had gotten gas the day before. I got some today too. Darn gas prices. Do you know this morning the code nor light were on? Retarded vehicle sometimes, I swear. I think it was on last year one time (before I knew you could get codes) and it went off on it's on too. lol Thanks again.
