Front end noise

I have a metal on metal noise after about 20 mph on the drivers side front axle, the rotors could both use replacing & are pretty warped(some schmoe replaced just the pads) but I'm fearing that it may be the front hub assembly ($200)
Any way to check without dismanteling? I've had it up in the air, the hub feels solid by shaking it around, there's even a bluing mark on the rotor (1/4 inch or so).
Times are tight so process of elimination isn't the way I want to go here.

if there is a 1/4 inch blueing mark { extream heat } on the rotor then you must have been metal to metal this would have been the noise you were hearing. just my thoughts

I found out it was a brake flex hose that went weird on me, not allowing the caliper to fully release
