I have a 1997 TJ with a 2.5L and 130,000 on it and today it started making a bad bad noise under the hood. I looked at and I seen the fan and pully wobbling. I am under the assumption that would indicate the front cam bearings are shot. Can they be replaced without tearing apart the engine?? Any advice on how to proced from here would be helpful, thanks

Step 1. Go purchase a Chilton or Haynes repair manual.
Step 2. Look up what a Cam is
Step 3. When you find out the cam is not the problem, flip to the Water Pump section and change your water pump.

View the attached Diagram. Let us know which one of the pulleys is causing the wobble. if it's the one marked WP/Fan, then that would mean that you need to replace the water pump. The Cam Shaft is rotated by a chain from the Crankshaft behind the Timing Chain Cover. I hope this helps. if you need more info, we will be happy to help you out.
