warn 8000 winch help

my winch will go out but wont roll back up which leaves it kinda pointless. i dont know if its the switch or the winch its self. has anyone ever had this problem.

Welcome to the Z. Sounds like a bad solenoid in the solenoid pack under the plastic cover. You can jump the solenoids if you know what you're doing.

Somebody chime in here, but aren't the solenoids the same as a Ford Ranger starter solenoid. Seems like I replaced one on my 9000 with a Ranger solenoid.

It's possible, I think it is the same as a starter solenoid. A good parts store should be able to match it up, or check with a Warn retailer.

I'm not sure i've seen a ford ranger solenoid but the winch solenoids are similar to what i've seen on my 64 T-bird and my CJ7 only in a heavier duty design.
