inline 6 ticking noise

I have a 2004 wrangler x and Iam hearing a ticking sound from the engine. I just recently got the jeep and I took it back to the dealer and they did find that a lifter arm was getting stuck. They replaced all the lifters and I am still hearing some ticking. nothing like what I was but real faint ticking in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears. I was told by the service department that all inline 6's have some tick to them. is this true

I also hear a lot of grinding when I am in reverse or I have the clutch in. when i put it in nuetral then the sound goes away. Any ideas there.

Thanks.

My Jeep makes all sorts of clunks and clanks so I can't say for sure what a "healthy" 4.0 should sound like, but I can tell you your clutch has absolutely nothing to do with your lifters. Sounds like you need a clutch, or maybe you have low fluid. If the dealer would be willing to fix your lifters, (waranty I assume), then maybe they will fix your transmission as well. How many miles are on your Jeep?
