89 YJ Not Starting , No Spark ?

I went out tonight in my 89 YJ it ran fine no problems at all. I came home it sat for about 45 min. I went out to run to the store and it cranked over and was hard to start. I had to hold the gas to the floor to get it to start. I let it run for a few minutes and decided to go. I made it approx 100 yrds and it died. All it does now is roll over. I can smell gas so I know it's getting gas. My thought was no spark but what would cause that?

No I have 3/4 of a tank. I also tried starting fluid and alittle gas to see if it was a gas line or something like that. When it cranks over I can smell gas so it is getting gas. Is there an easy way to check to see if it jumped time?

OK I got it fixed. The Dang coil connections had got all crappy and lost contact. Cleaned the connection and it started right up.
