Hi I notice that whenever I'm on the highway If I achieve 55 or higher the jeep begins to jerk, whats weird is this problem does not occur below 55, and I cannot get the check engine light to stay on long enough to determine the problem, any idea what this could be?

I have a 97 wrangler

What do you mean jerk?Does the engine seem to skip or buck?Is the steering vibrating all over the place?Does seem to be in the drive train?

If the SES lamp intermittently goes on and off, you can still get it scanned for stored DTC's. On an automatic transmission, bucking is usually caused by a faulty trans. gov. pressure sensor or a TCC solenoid. I'm not sure if your trans. is also equipped with an input AND an output speed sensor like some of the export models of that year, but sometimes that also has a bearing on this concern.

jerk as in bucking = agree with steel heads or even a loose or broken u joint
or jerk as in pulling left or right = check the front brakes/rotors
