Power steering connector

My 89 yj has an electrical connector on the power steering hose that is broken. Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of this connector.

It's called a power steering pressure switch. It's purpose is to compensate idle Vs. power steering pump load during parking lot manuevers. It helps keep the idle at the optimum level where the power steering pump requires to operate the steering with minimum efforts.
