hi all, I have a 2.5 Liter 1994 YJ. I have a friend coming over in the morning to help me remove my water pump. (otherwise pay the $90 Core on top of the $31 Pump, NO WAY) Napa closes at Noon, BUT I dont know how to do it...

This is what I do Know:
Its the pulley attached to the FAN
How to remove the serpentine belt correctly
Most everything is 1/2 inch or 13mm

This is what I THINK I know:
There is a cover over it
there are 4 bolts to remove it
When Replacing tighten to 22 FTLBS
Belt tension should be equivilent to 1/4 twist around on longest stretch of serpentine belt

What I KNOW I don't Know:
how long it will take
what bolts are the right bolts to remove
how to do this properly
Specifics and useful tips (maybe from your misfortunes, learning from your mistakes)

he will be here by 9am Central Time. Thanks to ANYONE who can help

I replaced mine by myself outside during the winter when it was around 10 degrees and it took my about 2.5 hours.Had to stop a few times to warm up hands.

If I remember correctly, and I am not sure if the YJ is different from my TJ.

1.Remove the few bolts on the back of the fan.
2.Remove fan shroud.
3.Loosen pulley tension to remove belt.
4.Remove water lines to pump.
5.I had to remove alternator.
6.remove the bolts holing water pump on.
7.clean all areas with razor blade.
8.use some rtv silicone.
9.start putting everything back on in reverse order of removing.

One other thing I did was modified the bottom of my fan shroud since I had it out to be able to remove it with the fan on the motor.Made life a lot easier next time I had to remove it.
