79 CJ7 exhaust Y pipe

I have a 79 CJ7 with a 5.0L v8 with no exhaust. I recently ordered exhaust manifolds and now working on the pipes.

Can anyone tell me if a pre assembled exhaust Y pipe can be installed while on the ground (or slightly jacked up ) ? I would like to do this myself, however, do not have extensive equipment like a lift or a welder.

Depending on how tall your CJ sits up(Lift) off the ground will depend on how much room you will have to install the exaust. I think the original routing of the pipe is on the driver side of the t.case. If your kit is a clamp and go sytem, i would assemble it one piece at a time starting at the exaust manifold to make sure that it's at the correct position before you clamp it down.
