No downshift when passing

1991 yj 4.0L Automatic

My passing gear doesn't seem to kick in when I step on the gas, it just remains at the same rpm and slowly accelerates. The transmission kick down cable is attached to the throttle, could this be a vacuum line issue?

is it properly adjusted? mine doesn't do it either but mine has the old style rod that is not adjusted right

To adjust would you tighten the rod on the throttle or is there another method?

your jeep has a rod also?

i am not sure on the newer wranglers. i have never had to adjust my wife's 93. i know how to do the cherokee but i don't know if yours is the same as those are. do you have a cable or a rod?

IF there is an adjuster on the cable, there would be a clip that needs to be disengaged from the housing. After adjusting it to the proper position, snap the clip back in and road test it.
