i have a dana 44 rear axle from a 1986 c-j 7 . would it be worth swapping it into my 1987 yj ( which has a dana 35 rear) assuming the 44 is in good condition. what diffculties does anybody forsee. by the way i plan on getting an axle spring over conversion done either way. i just want the better rear on my jeep.[addsig]

the 44 would be much better than the 35... not sure it it would be as much of a bolt in as it would be on another cj[addsig]

Sounds like a good idea. Only one bad thing. Its not wide enough. The CJ has a skinnier stance than the 87 and up wranglers. Find a 87 - 89 Cherokee rear end out of a 4.0L most have DANA 44s in them. Thats what I got mine out of and I only had to move the shock mounts and srping perches had to come in a little.[addsig]

the 35 diff cover is much more round than a 44. a 44 is more square....kinda like a small lookin D60[addsig]
