89 yj Electric HELP!

I need help, i have a 89 jeep yj 6 cylinder that wont start, when you turn on the ignition the dashboard lights come on and as soon as you try and start th jeep you hear nothing and all electric leaves and all the gauges/ lights on the dash turn off. i have replaced the starter soldenoid already and cleaned the terminals with no effect

Sounds like the battery is dead. Put a charge on it and see if that helps. If it were the starter, you would not loose power. Sounds simple but thats what it sounds like to me. Turn on your lights and see if they go dim, if they do its your battery.

im retarded, while the battery wasnt dead the negitive ground to the block was messed up, problem solved
