High Idle??

i took my exhaust headers off and had them welded due to a little crack and i installed them back and now the engine is idling around 1800-2000 rpm which is about a 1000 rpms too high. what could cause this i check that i had O2 sensor plugged in i checked all my vaccum hoses on intake manifold it all looks good. the only thing i can see that i did different was spray paint the exhaust header with a high heat spray paint and maybe it is burning off on the inside because i cant touch my intake manifold it is hot. maybe i have a scavenge fire lol

You have a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake manifold. Check the gasket first and double check the vacuum lines.

It may be the idle air control, mine was doing the same thing and I took it off of the throttle body and gave it a good cleaning with TB cleaner, idle is at 750-800rpm where it belongs
