Passenger seat problem Help?

97 jeep sahara the pass side seat will not lock in position after the reclining position is set the knob is stuck in the "open" up position and will not drop down to lock after the seats adjusted. tried wd40 tried a little force can not get a good view to see what actually happens to lock the knob "down" to lock and hold. Any ideas? thanks:???:

probably something feel into the gear teeth and is blocking it from setting. look into it and see it you can see anything
