downshift grinding

I just bought my first jeep a 94 yj and whenever i try to downshift from 5 to 4 and so on it grinds, i almost have to be at a complete stop to downshift. and it will grind a little when just shifting up. I replaced the clutch, pressureplate, trow-out and pilot bearing and i also bleed the clutch. and still no luck. The previous owner said he had the same problem while shifting.
any help would be nice.

My guess is that they were using the wrong transmission fluid. You see, the YJ manual says to use GL5, but the original GL-5 ate up the the yellow metas - ie. the synchros in your transmission (which is why GL-5 MT-1 was created to avoid this). My first recommendation is to drain your transmission fluid and replace it with something like Redline MT90 (best I have used so far, which will even improve or correct older problems) or Penzoil Synchromesh.

^^ What he said, bad synchros. Redline MT90 should improve shifting if they're not too far gone. Otherwise it's time to replace the transmission.
