Anybody else have sudden MPG dropoff from dirty MAP sensor?

09 Sahara with 66K had sudden drop in MPG and unexplained increase in power/acceleration. Also, noticed in cold weather that a lot of vapor in exhaust even after warmup. FlashPaq didn't show faults but MAP indicated poor vacuum at cruise and idle. Cleaned MAP sensor with brake cleaner until fluid came out clear. Got my 3 MPGs back. Excellent!
 

the map sensors controls hte mixture for your fuel, in conjunction with your o2 sensors. it reads differential pressure in the intake versus the air pressure outside the engine and is one of the points the ecu uses to adjust fuel injector opening time length.


if it works the same way aviation fuel injection works
