Whineing noise,when engageing clutch

When starting out in first gear, at times I hear a noise kind of like a fan belt slipping, but with a metallic ring to it. Its comeing from the passenger side of the transmission the best I can tell. When it does it I can feel a little vibration in the stick shift, noise stops, so does vibration. Seems to work fine but that noise has me spooked. 94 yj 6 cyl manual 5 spd. Any ideas?

I agree with Steady Foot...sounds like a throw out issue....also check to make sure your trans & clutch are lined up correctly. I once had a trans loosen up where it bolts to the bellhousing...it squealed like a pig.

ok, cool thanks a lot for the pointers, I do hear a clunk once in a while, which thinks something is not tight. Thanks, I'll keep ya updated.
