The carrier bearing preload for an AMC20 is given as .008". Assuming that pinion depth, backlash and wear pattern are correct, would I add .008 shims or .004 on both sides to accomplish preload? I get that all afore mentioned measurements need to be taken with the correct shims on each side. I just don't fully understand how to achieve .008 preload.
