ZDDP or Not

Need some thoughts here. I bought a 258 long block with flat tappet valve lifters which requires a ZDDP additive because the oils now days has little to no zinc. The zinc coats the cam and lifters to prevent flattening of the cam lobes during break in. I have reached the break in mileage and need to change the oil. Will it hurt anything to continue using the ZDDP additive with each oil change? I use a Lucas additive and it says to use it with each oil change but the engine rebuilder says I don't have too. I want to use it but I don't know the long term effect or even if there are any. Any thoughts?

Actually most of the 4.0 jeep engines will see a longer life using ZDDP additives. Many don't use oil with ZDDP or additives.
Valvoline vr1 has it in already and is pricey.
Your call.
