2016 Jeep JK oil filter housing.

New member here wanting some advice on a leaky oil filter housing on my 2016 jk. I know the early years of JK’s had a problem with the housing cracking and spewing oil down the back side of the engine, I’m wondering if the problem carried on to the new models with the 3.6, or if it’s just the o rings that are leaking, I’m trying to put together a parts list and don’t really want to buy a 300$ (cad) filter housing if I don’t need it, thanks!

Make sure the O-ring on the cap is installed correctly. Lube the O-ring before installation and use the correct filter. Not necessary to over-tighten the cap. Tight is fine.

I'm sure aggreX meant hand tight.
I have a 2010 jk and have never had any leaks at the oil filter [or elsewhere]

The oil filter or the cap isn’t leaking, it’s the actual filter housing/cooler assembly that’s leaking oil down in the valley and down behind the engine, onto the bell housing.
