high oil pressure

i have a 1990 yj and she usually idles with about 40 pounds of oil pressure. But when i am driving it buries up past 80. normal or not?[addsig]

I have the same deal and as far as I can tell it must be ok, I have had no problems so far. Replaced the sending unit and same deal. High pressure is much better than low I guess. heheheh tug[addsig]

well.. you don't want your crank to me pressurized really... you can blow a freeze plug (softplug... etc..)... it is often the result of a faulty pcv system[addsig]

BBJ has a fauly gauge... as soon as he starts it... it pegs full... with occasional drops in the readings[addsig]

hey, I have a 89 YJ and it runs about 70 to 80psi when I am driving and 30 to 35psi at idle. I did some research on this because it seemed high, but the manual says the oil pressure is supposed to be 25 to 35psi at idle and 37 to 75psi over 1600 RPM. I hope this helps!![addsig]
