Strange VIN number

Evening all,
I have a VIN number on a Jeep i purchased that does not match any of the decoders I have tried. The third digit in my VIN is a number instead of a letter. Can anyone tell me why or what the 7 means? All other VIN identifiers are good except the 3rd place. That 7 should be an A, F, or M. Anyone know why it is a 7?

If J57 is the start J represents country mfg. J is an asian mfg.
5 is the year 2005 7 is modle

Thanks for the response. It is with out question a 1975 CJ5 and the VIN tag on the firewall does match the title and appears to be original tag.

My bad... reading a bit more, it was not until 1981 where the standardized VIN was established.

Prior to 1981 you need to contact the mfg.
To understand the number meaning.

That would be interesting to know the meaning of that VIN.
