Clutch Actuator ‘93 YJ

Howdy All,

My Wrangler is shifting hard at times. It is a 5 speed. I believe the internal clutch actuator is going bad. Is it hard to replace? I am not sure I want to attempt it myself. Any idea of an estimated cost at a local mechanic? Should I plan on replacing the clutch at the same time?

Thanks for any help.

Start with inspecting the fluid level snd color.
Easiest is to change fluid.
Also did you change anything lately? Tire size lift???

Check engine and trans mounts??

I have been adding fluid when the clutch pedal gets soft. I think it is leaking.

Does your shifter move on hard shifts? Or when punching the gas. Would indicate motor and trans mounts.

Most of the time, first and reverse are almost impossible to shift into. When I add some clutch fluid it gets better

My engine has 200K miles on it. I am contemplating getting a rebuilt or other motor to replace mine. At the same time replacing the clutch and actuator. I have replaced clutches before but not one that is as involved as this one. Maybe new engine mounts too!

Thanks.
