For years now, air would blow from my defrost only for about 10 minutes before moving to the direction I had chosen. Just recently, the high setting went out on my selector knob.
I decided to finally do something about it, and ordered a new control from Amazon for about $55.
Swapping it in wasn't hard, but the tubes were too short (it was made for a 99-04, and the tubes on my 05 were longer). I eventually made it work, and now everything climate related works perfectly.
I didn't realize that the controls were all pneumatic, but they are.
Here are the old controls and how the tubes connect.
