fuel leak question

OK, I changed out my fuel pump this weekend because I needed to put a new gasket on it. Had a leak around the gasket that needed to be fixed anyway.

Problem is, now I have a new fuel pump and gasket, but now have a fuel leak at the top of the fitting for the metal fuel line. I have taken it off and put it on several times thinking that the nipple was not sealing properly. It is not a big leak, but a leak none the less. Any ideas of how to fix this? Would plumbers putty be a good fix?

Thanks, Joel

Don't know what year Jeep you have, but you may need to replace the assembly that bolts to the tank.-al

I have a 1981 CJ5 with 258 I6, the leak is from the fitting that attaches to the top of the fuel pump. Fuel is leaking from the top of the screw fitting, not a big leak, but a leak. The fuel hose that attaches from the side of the fuel pump is fine, no leak at all.

I would just try using Teflon tape. I don't think that you can go wrong there, but then again, I don't know how that would hold up to gas.
