exhaust heat shield - worth replacing?

After finally getting the tub off, I've discovered that my heat shield is totaled (rusted out). Does anyone have a source for one of these? I didn't see it on any of the standard jeep shop sites.



Another question is does it really keep that much heat out of the cabin?

you could always get some sheet metal and fabricate one

Originally I had the I-6 on my CJ-5, which the heat shield would make an incredible amount of noise. I too pulled it off. I pulled it off, Uhmmm, about 6 years ago. I have not had any problems what so ever. I just remember the thing being made of some pretty heavy gauge steel. Like about 12 gauge. Worse comes to worse though, buy a sheet of aluminum (Lowes) and make your own. I say Lowes due to being able to get a sheet of aluminum just about anywhere, and you don't have to buy a huge sheet of it.[addsig]
