I have tested all that i can acording to this manual http://www.genxj.com/89JeepFI.pdf
The only thing I cant check is the IAC you need some kind of tester. I have the TPS adjusted to the Chiltons manuals specifications, butt my TPS has two plugs coming out of it A tree prong and a four prong...
it's an 89 xj 4.0l, I would change the TPS, but the auto parts stores want $99 for it, being unemployed for the moment cant afford to do anything :( oh well
Well I give up. I can not figure out why this thing idles fast when warming up.(now between 1500 and 1900) I have check all the sensors replaced the o2 with a new one, checked for bad wires and nothing. Nobody around this town knows anything about jeeps and it's renix French shit. I think i have...
I had a bad sensor. Found a used one and put it on and tested it and I had voltage out of the signal wire. I could not get a voltage reading out of the old one.
I have a 89 4.0L I have been testing all the sensors today and all seem to be ok according to the Chiltons manual exept the O2. It say's the voltage should be fluctuating .40 and .06. Mine tests about 4.8 to 5 volts. Is this possible?
Well I found a bad ground wire, the main one from the battery to the block.
The plastic is hard and falling and the wires are discolerd right by the block. So I get to replace that.
Thanks for the help.
Well new relay wired right same problem. so I guess I will check the starter again.
And has anybody seen this recall for jeeps. mine has an high idle problem during warm up...
What color wires go to the relay?? The relay is marked F, SOL, I and G.
I'm have a problem with starting my 89 4.0L Jeep, I go to start it and nothing I have power to every thing else but the starter does not engage. I keep trying then all of a sudden it starts working? I replaced the relay...

Ok I cleaned every thing and it is still doing it. How do I check tha CTS & MAT. Also When its doing it's high idle, it sounds like shit, sounds like an old tracktor. but it's not missing. Thanks
It is MPFI. Does any body make a good book on this FI system? I bought a Haynes manual and it only covers the newer computers with self diognostics tests. Thanks
oops  sorry about that, It's a 89 Cherokee 4.0L 5 speed.
When I first start it It idles around 800 for about 2 minutes then it gradually goes up to 1500 and stays for 15 to 20 minutes. What should I test first?
