Do I need to upgrade the axle shafts in my Dana 30 (with a locker)?

I'm driving from Virginia to Kentucky this summer for some wheeling (first time the kids and wife are all going), and I'm trying to get my Jeep in good shape, and to also pack all the spare parts that I could need. One thing that's been on my mind is my front Dana 30 axle. I've got an Aussie...

    Key dance doesn’t pull codes

From what I've read, P0205 could be a wiring issue - something shorting the injector to ground. It could also be a bad injector.

    66’ church engine stamp help

I used the internet way-back machine to find an old Geocities website that seems to have information about older Jeep engines https://web.archive.org/web/20090425012834/http://www.geocities.com/cantwait_forviolence/cj_numbers.html I'll paste the info here as well for those that follow: Engine...

This is from the JK DTCs: Sounds like the codes were cleared, or perhaps the battery was disconnected / died.

Picked up a new set of tools to bring off-road

I totally agree. Up until now I've had a large canvas bag with all my tools - separate wrenches and sockets, with the ratchets always at the bottom of the bag... I've found the thing that has been most useful on the trail has been a baggie of common fasteners. I've used it twice when parts of...

Picked up a new set of tools to bring off-road

I've been looking for some time for a set of tools to take off-road that do not rattle. I found these channel lock tools at my Sam's club for only $99. I'm pretty happy overall. The case has real metal hinges and if you shake it, you can't hear any tools rattle inside. It's got a lifetime...

    Leaking power steering box

The mystery unfolds. I had originally thought the power steering pump was bad because when backing up out of my driveway there was a dark puddle on the driver side of the vehicle. Well the same thing happened today and I looked a bit closer. It smells like gear lube and I can see this on my...

    Leaking power steering box

Does this power steering box look like it's leaking to you guys? I'm not sure at what point a steering box leak becomes bad enough to pay attention to. The fluid level is still fine and it looks like this is a pretty small leak. Should I replace this with a stock steering box or is there a...

Which of these bolts is stronger?

That's what I've been missing. I knew that 10.9 is stronger than 8.8, but it seemed strange that they would mark this bolt with an 11. I had never heard of a "manufacturer's mark" before. Does seem to make things needlessly confusing.

Which of these bolts is stronger?

I ordered a new trailer hitch for my wife's Toyota Highlander and it came with a new set of bolts. The factory bolts are stamped with an 11 and the new bolts are stamped with an 8.8. I know there are differences in hardnesses between metric and SAE bolts, but my assumption is these would both...

Recommend a winch plate for my TJ

I've got a comealong, but never take it offroad. It just feels janky and a bit dangerous, with the metal hooks and cables. I get nervous thinking about a cable snapping while I'm right on top of it cranking. I like the idea of a winch with a remote and synthetic line. I've also got a hi-lift...

Recommend a winch plate for my TJ

I've found one that seems to fit my description from Under Cover Fabworks: https://undercoverfab.com/carbon-steel-winch-plates/24-ucf-carbon-steel-winch-plate-for-jeep-tj.html It's 1/4 inch steel and comes bare metal. The rub is that it's $150 plus shipping. I'm torn because I could get one...
