    Starter Help

I am currently replacing my AMC 360 with a 302. I have learned alot but am having one heck of a time finding a starter that fits. It is an 86 ford 302, the bell housing is an 84 f-150 and the flywheel is 157 tooth that Novak adapters said to use. I have tried three different starters and all of...

    jeep tattoos lol

Jps, I saw a wedding band on one of the sites that was a bogger, would never tattoo one on my body but I wouldn't mind the wedding band. The only brand name tattoo I have is Harley Davidson. I will not be getting rid of it any time soon so that in my opinion was not a bad choice.

    Engine taps after warming up

I am not 100% certain but it almost sounds like lifter tap based on your description. I believe keep used solid lifters which would behave in the manner you described. Don't take me for certain, as it has been forever since I worked on a newer model motor.

    80 cj7 build

As the son said , the T-176 will mount right up, you may have to as we are going to have to do, shave 620 thousandths off the input shaft so it won't bottom on the crank. The T-176 transmission was made by tremec for ford and also jeep, (so I have heard, not certain). Don't go all out on Hp, it...

Block drain plug 06 tj unlimited

I am by no means an expert on jeep motors, but I have never heard of a block drain plug for coolant. There are freeze plugs, but they don't need replacing unless you rebuild or one blows out.

    AMC 360 Build/Rebuild

Well it has been a while since an update, got the motor out and the son and I started the tear down. It all looked good until the heads came off! :(Found 3 broke pistons.:x What really scares me is that there were NO metal shavings/bits/pieces in the pan.:shock:The below pics show the pistons...

Engine noise after replacing spark plugs.

Glad you got it fixed, yes a very loose plug will allow blow by on the exhaust stroke and will also suck air past on the intake stroke.

    Front differential

The wobble could come from the loose axle shafts especially If a bearing is going. If you have the mechanical ability I would pull and inspect the shafts, seals, bearings etc. As the son says I would replace the ring and pinion at your earliest convenience. If you have no plans on wheeling...

    Hot!!!

What's snow? Here in Fl , we have maybe 3 days of sub 30 deg winter. And then 9 months of 90 plus with humidity at or above 90%. what I would give for 70 deg and 20% humidity right now!

    AMC 360 Build/Rebuild

No thanks Sweetpeet, as my son said we have a 302 in the machine shop. Wasn't expecting this one to detonate so soon. Appreciate the offer. Is there anything I need to watch out for while rebuilding the 360?

    AMC 360 Build/Rebuild

Well finally found a couple of free hours to work on the Jeep. Got the Alt off, Radiator out, Core support removed, fuel lines removed. All I need to do now is get the power steering pump off, remove the carb, unbolt the transmission and motor mounts and yank it out. Pics below are where we...
