I replaced the carburator on my 89 wrangler. I had a problem with the fuel return hose which keep fuel from getting to the carb. with all that fixed it starts ,runs with holding the gas pedal steady but stalls if I let off the pedal. New fuel pump and filter. Anyone with a suggestion I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Is it a new or rebuilt carb...Carters had an idle problem that a lot of rebuilds didn't fix. I think it had to do with the accelerator pump. The plunger would wear & flood the carb at idle. If you can keep it running by working the carb by hand, you might be able to see if you're getting gas or if it's gushing into the throat & flooding. Also check the idle setting.

Just found out the Carter problem was NOT the accelerator pump, but was a spot on the aluminum case that a rod passed thru....the aluminum case would wear & cause a vacuum leak.

I did buy a rebuilt carter carb. I am continuing to replace all vac hoses and fuel lines. 22 years and hoses are worn. I will update after all hoses changed. I was playing with the idea of replacing with a 350 chevy engine I have.
