87 yj won't Start Need Help please

I have a 89 Yj that i Swapped a new 2.5 in And now it won't start .it will turnover fine .but it's not getting a spark form the coil the coil get's hot with the test lite win the key is on but it won't gave a spark ? i put new plugs wires rotor & cap and new coil & crankshaft sensor

are you sure you have the coil wires hooked up properly, and not grounding it out?

I'm not familiar with the 4 cylinder. Does it have a pickup coil in the distributor like the 6 cylinder does? I've had that go out on me before and it won't spark without it.

What year motor? Same flywheel as original motor? If not, they went from Renix to HO in '91. The notches cut on the wheel are different.

Good point!! The Crankshaft Hall Sensor notches on the flywheel will cause a no start if the one on the donor engine is not the same as the one taken out.
