CJ7 Question - What's this thing behind my dash?

I was cleaning out my Jeep today, and I found this small black thing hanging off of a wire behind the cigarette lighter. Its about 2"X 1 X1", and I can see where a wire used to be attached to the other side as well.

I know my description doesn't give a whole lot to go on, but does anyone know what this thing is?

Is there any wire coming from it? Where does it go? Sounds like part of a stereo wiring harness, I've seen black boxes like that when wiring stereos.

Head light aiming?

Yes there is a wire coming from it... its hanging off of it and the wire goes up into the dash a little farther than I can see... if it was stereo related, I'm guessing it must have been some sort of fuse for something.

I'll have to poke around a little more once I've got some daylight.

Any opinions on Headers / Exhaust?

It sounds like a noise filter. It keeps down electrical noise on your stereo. Like alternator whine through your speakers. How many wire are there?

Only 2 wires, the one that its hanging from, and the frayed remains of one on the other side. Would the old (and long gone) stock radio have had a noise filter?
