Hi,
Im rebuildilng my '87's 258, and im wondering
what else i should do while i got the engine out.
Im not boring it larger or anything jazzy, just a new engine...

So far I am:
-replacing the clutch
-jumping inside where the engine goes and having a friend take my picture
-having all the electrics tested/replaced (ignition, starter, alt, batt)
-replacing the wiring harnesses from the guages/computer to the various sensors
-replacing the vacuum lines (UNLESS I GO WITH THE WEBER - maybe...so far im
at a huge $1500, so im not sure about an xtra $300 for a weber)
I WOULD LIKE to completely eliminate all emissions controls/hoses
(IF WEBER) 'cause my state doesnt test for anything!!
-checking radiator
-All the little various $10 parts that add up to like $300

What am I missing?

Any suggestions large & small would be great!!!
Thanx!

Replace the slave cylinder on the clutch while you have it out of there. Reface the flywheel. Fresh motor mounts would not hurt either. Luck Tug[addsig]

Check out the valves and intake. Mine were very dirty. I'd replace the timing chain tensioner and look at that crank. I also painted all my parts. Good luck with it,

clearly, this is the most important part![addsig]

When you first take it out after the rebuild, take it for a short drive and check for leaks when you get back. Just helped a friend rebuild his 350. We had a pile of fun,and a pile of headaches but it was worth the expeirence. Good luck.[addsig]
