Headlights go off on their own

Good day to all, Subject veh:1982 CJ7,
While coming home Sat night with the low beams on, the headlights turned off, all of the marker lamps, driving lights stayed on. I turned the headlights off then back on to no avail, the only way to get them burning again was to turn the high beams on and then back off again, this happened several times on the way home. There was no rhyme or reason to it, sometimes flat roads, bumps etc. I have checked the connectors, wires, the high/low beam selector switch appears to be new, connections are tight there. My first guess would be the dash switch to turn them on/off. Has anyone had this happen and what was the fix?

Could be a bad ground. Check the plug for the head lights might have some rust on the conections or a fraid wire

I had the same issue before. It was one of the 3 wires on the high/ low beam switch on the floor. Check the terminals and connectors for a spread and corrosion. I ended up replacing all 3 terminal connectors on mine and haven't had a problem since then.
