I put my jeep in the shop (first mistake shoulda fixed it myself) over 3 monthes ago to get my engine rebuilt and this guy gives me a differant excuse every week on why it isnt done yet, he said he would have it ready for me to take home on leave...that didnt happen... then he tells me itll be done when i get back from leave (2 weeks later) and i call today and he says it still isnt ready but i MIGHT be able to pick it up friday after lunch ..... is it just me or do yall think im gettin royally screwed on this little deal... This kinda stuff is so common around base...... people charge you a outragous amounts of money for some of the simpliest things i payed almost 2 grand for this dipstick to rebuild my engine... yes i know im retarded to have spent that kind of money on a simple overhaul but i didnt have any other option, guess im jsut lettin off a little steam, :?

P.S. its just a run of the mill 258 yall know how easy they are to work on and tinker with i just dont understand how it could take so long to fix somthing when there was only one car ahead of it in the shop when i had it first brought out there.... im hopin ill get to enjoy this thing before i go back over seas but the way its lookin i might get done with a freakin 7 to 14 month deployment before this thing is done.. Just buy a used 258 or get a Jasper long block 258 and bolt all your pans and accessories on there. Two days and you will be back rolling.

Have you gone over there to see what he's actually done on it? Has he done anything at all or is he just waiting on a part? I worked in a garage years ago and I remember one time the mechanic there did the exact same thing to the customer that you're going through righ now. He did it because he completely messed up the new motor and had to re-rebuild the motor again and he didn't want to tell the customer of his mistake.

just go pick it up and do it yourself.. tell him you're done wasting your time and you're not paying him anything. if he says anything tell him you'll report him to the better business bureau as a frauder

How soon are you being deployed? I live in Raleigh but might be near Lejune sometime soon, we oughta go wheelin if you've ever got some free time. When you get that jeep back that is. good luck with all that.
Im goin back to the "raq" in january, so i hope to get some wheelin time in by then, this place down here is just a big swamp so its crawlin with mud, there aint much for mountains or hills though... I went down there and talked to him yesterday evening he said he got the wrong pistons sent to him for the motor and that all of his machanics had been on vacation the past couple weeks, thats why it hadnt been finished yet.... I wanted to ask him why he sent everybody on vacation with work that had to be done but i kept my mouth shut cause he knocked off 200 bucks and said he would have it done by friday at 1200 so we'll see how that goes because at 1200 sharp im gonna be waitin to crank er up, if it aint ready he's gettin his tater torqued by me and about 4 of my buddies who have been itchin to do a little wheelin or a little re-aranging of some facial features on a few guys down at that garage. When I was active duty and somebody off base was screwing a military member,we could go to our First Sergent and get them involved. If they still wouldn't resolve the issue, the Base had a "black list" of businesses that all new people were told to stay away from. Just the threat of being on that list kept most of them straight with us guys.
