problems replacing lower steering bearing

trying to replace the lower steering bearing and can not get the bearing into the race. Any suggestions??
This article makes it sound like they just slide together but mine don't.

I choose repack the new bearing with more grease, it seemed a bit light on the grease from the manufacture. Now snap the bearing into the race.

they should snap together if I remember correctly. It was a tight fit but they go together.

If it slipped out should slip back in. I'm not familiar with the bearing your talking about but this may help if it's a small clearance issue. Put the bearing in the freezer for a couple hours or so, this will shrink it. Then at least have the race in a warm place, like out in the sun for a while. You'd be suprised how much expansion an contraction you'll get. If it don't work we go to plan B.

Hey Jeepn4Fun,

I wrote that tech blog your referring too. We are talking about the white plastic bearing fitting into the black metal race correct? As the other guys pointed out, it is a tight fit and they will only fit in one way. They should snap together. I like Flatie's idea as it is a tight fit.
