Thinking of selling my 360...

RE: Air Intake

That's right, I'm thinking of selling my AMC 360 in favor of a bigger motor. I spotted a new Bruiser chassis with a ZZ502 this weekend. It was an earthshaker.
I know this isn't the classifieds, but I thought I would see if anyone is interested or if anyone could talk me out of it.
The 360 was bought as a reman long block from NAPA about 3 years ago. It has low miles (no odometer...95% trail use) and has been ridden probably 30 or so times. It's got a mid range cam, DUI ignition, GM Throttle Body fuel injection, remote oil cooler/filter, and got a new oil pump and housing when I installed it. The oil pressure starts at 60 psi cold and drops to 25 psi when warm at idle. There are no oil leaks and the block is clean (no gunk built up).
If I sell it, it will go with the Daystar poly motor mounts, power steering pump, brand new alternator, Flex a Lite fan, belts etc.. and possibly the radiator and fuel pump. Basically all the parts you would need to drop it in, minus some fuel hose and a few other random things
I was thinking of somewhere in the neighborhood of $1400 for all of it and may throw in a matching TH400 auto that needs to be built.
What do you guys think?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: How Many Here Have One Of These.........

hmmmm, a ZZ502 eh? I've got one waiting to go in a '67 Chevelle....If the car ever gets finished.

I think that would be a really fair price. Sorry, I won't be able to talk you out of selling it. Those 502's are awesome engines...and you sure can't go wrong with one!!!!!

RE: New (used) axles, what maintenance should I do?

Yeah, a 502 would be nice. But your 360 sounds like a good engine. I have always been a fan of the 360, hmmmm, maybe I should put one in my YJ...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Stuck line truck

I just can't find fault in the quest for more power. I'm as much or more a Chevy man as I am an AMC fan, so as much as I hate to see an AMC engine be pulled from a Jeep......

Wrangles, while I understand what you are trying to say, and I agree on some levels, I have to say......yes you can go wrong with a 502. If you are going for the maximum power per dollar, and you order one of the performance versions of the GM 502 crate engine.....you have gone "wrong" with a 502. If you make the mistake of thinking your 502 is automatically the baddest boy in town just because it's big......you have gone "wrong" with a 502. There are guys out there with smallblocks that will suck that big lazy bast*rd in their carb and then spit it out the tailpipe. I'd rather have 400 lean, mean, and angry cubic inches than 502 big, fat, lazy ones.

The BASE 502 is a decent platform to build upon though, and to be honest, I'm just "hatin" because I'll never be able to afford one

Ya, you made some good points Junkpile. But, staight out of the box that things got a ton of torque....which I'm guessing is what Redrooster would be after if he's considering a ZZ502.

And I have to say, they are not "502 big, fat, lazy" cubic inches. Mine has something like 565 ft/lbs of torque and 502 horsepower. Do all the things to the 502 that you would have to do to a smaller engine to get that power...and you could very easily send those numbers WAY WAY up.

And yes I was kind of generalizing when I said you can't go wrong with one. But, if that's the sort of engine your wanting to run....you really can't go wrong with one!!!

RE: Want to buy a New Liberty.......what are your thoughts?

I also considered a Chevy 6.0 that would get tweaked.
First I have to sell the 360 to see how far that will get me toward a new engine.
What do you guys think about the price $? I have about twice that much in it with the fuel injection and everything.
